Rusted main line

Hey everyone. Looking for some advice

One of my properties I recently bought got backed up and I had to send a plumber out to get it cleared. Once they cleared it they ran a camera up since they said there was some mud and also an earthworm in the main line. They said they found a Cast iron portion of the main sewer line that had cracks and holes in it. Now I’m getting quoted thousands to get it repaired. Has anyone else had a similar problem? And any advice on moving forward

Cast iron is the worst and it is only going to get worse over time. I would take this opportunity to get multiple quotes and start putting a plan together to get it fixed. You do not want to run into a situation where you have to scramble and pay emergency fees to get it fixed. I am going through this now with a fire line that runs into my commercial building wet stand pipe. It has a leak that is located somewhere under my parking lot or possibly the buildings slab. Leak was detected around 1 week ago. My first quote was 11k and after speaking with several individuals I will most likely be hiring 3 separate contractor to save the most money. Hiring a leak detection company to located the leak, hiring a concrete contractor to cut, excavate and replace the concrete and hiring a fire line certified plumber to replace the broken section of pipe. Its a bit more work, but utilize your network and pull some favors if needed.
