Is a lawyer legally required when wholesaling a deal in NY?

Posted

This question is specifically for investors who operate in the NY market, more specifically the 5 boroughs. If you're not operating in NY, please don't bother reply.

1. I want to know if I am legally required to consult an attorney to draft a Purchase and Sale contract, or can I just use a Standard Purchase and Sale contract (that has the appropriate wholesaling clauses) taken from a Wholesaling "guru" website?

2. Will I need an attorney at closing? After I potentially get a contract with a seller, and I get an assignment contract with a buyer, when it cones to closing, am I legally required to have an attorney at the closing table?

3. Lastly, if any local operators would like to share their experience with wholesaling without any attorney involvement, I'd love to hear it.

Thank you for your time.
