time on contract

In a purchase and sell agreement it sais something like we will close on or before and then the date. So my question is when I'm assigning my contract, if the end buyer wants to close on a specific day does he/she tell me what day and then I tell the buyerk? Or does the end buyer tell the seller theirselves?
