I have a seller who wants to basically give me his house for free. The only issue is he owes around $8,000 in back taxes,is there any way i can go to the county and negotiate down the back taxes ?The house is in pretty bad shape but if i can lower down the taxes owed i might be able to wholesale for a couple thousand dollars.Any suggestions guys?

How much do you think the property is worth? Is the seller willing to sign a contract with you for just the back taxes owed?

In my opinion you can forget about negotiating down the price on the taxes owed. But you might be able to negotiate some sort of payment plan to get enough paid to hold off on the auction. You'll never know unless you ask. My advice is to get it under contract with a clause that states the contract is contingent upon you getting an end buyer.

Pick up any newspaper or classifieds and look for "we buy houses" ads and start calling them offering this deal. Your other option is to post the deal here on biggerpockets or on craigslist. If it's a "deal", you'll get someone to bite. Good Luck!
