reassignment tax question
any help in this is appreciated. Lets say you are a wholesaler and win a property at a sheriff sale or sign a contract with a seller for $100,000. Then you find a buyer who is willing to pay $130,000 for this property so without taking possession you assign a contact to a new buyer and make $30,000 profit. When all of this is said and done, do you claim $130,000 income with $100,000 expenses on your tax returns, or do you just claim $30,000 income with no expenses. I only ask because local municipalities charge small percentage of a gross sales tax.
