Buying probate properties before case settlement

Hi all. Wondering if anybody knows if properties currently in probate can be purchased before case settlement. I know this is likely state by state. I'm working in Michigan, so anybody in Michigan have any ideas? Any strategies for doing so? I'm think a lease option may be possible.
