Paying for potential deals, legality?

I was wondering if it were legal to make a post for friends, family, and other associates if it were legal to offer money for potential deals? For example - Can I offer $500 or something for homes that fit the description of a perfect wholesale deal as long as I can get the deal closed on? I was just curious if that would be illegal or not.
