I'm new to BiggerPockets. it seems a general challenge we all have is how to beat deal with unreliable contractors that make our real estate renovations an adventure-packed ride where we don't always know how much the ticket costs and when we shall arrive at our destination. is there a forum dealing with such topics?

Chris,

this is the forum for talking about Contractors: https://www.biggerpockets.com/forums/24-contractor...

And as far as Beat/ Deal with contractors, as a Contractor, that is why i make it a policy not to work as a Contractor with other Investors, not worth the negotiating for me. i have been a Contractor for 32 years, all my work has been word of mouth, never did any Advertising all those years. if someone does not want to pay me what i charge and always wants to negotiate, not worth my time. As a contractor, we have family to feed too. nowadays, especially because it's spring, all the good Contractors are Booked solid and running multiple jobs to try and satisfy everyone and it happens that there are days that no one will be on site do to Subs or emergencies on other projects. you should always get a contract beforehand that spells out what the project will cost you, any additional work will be priced as it comes up.
