Wholesaling with a Real Estate License?

Hi everyone,

I am a new investor and am currently in the stage of educating myself as much as possible through reading real estate books, listening to the bigger pockets podcast, and hanging out on the Bigger Pockets site.

I am thinking about starting with wholesaling so I can fully learn the ins and outs when it comes to real estate investing with minimal financial risk. That way I will find a good deal as I wholesale that I can purchase as my own investment. Do you guys think this is a good strategy to start with? If not, please let me know what you think would be better.

Also, what are your thoughts on obtaining a real estate license when as a wholesaler? Does it make life THAT much easier?

Thanks!

Craig

Having your RE license allows you to have access to the MLS and other benefits. You can wholesale while also being a RE Agent however, you will have to disclose that you are an agent with whatever company you work with such as Remax etc. to the property seller. You may also have to notify the broker you list your license with that you plan on also investing. I'm not entirely sure if brokers care whether or not you invest but just be through with them.

In addition to studying here on BP you should attend local REI meetings in your area to network with others and build relationships. It can help you become better aquanted with the REI business. You can usually find meetings in your area by going to meetup and using Google. Hope these suggestions help you out.
