Starting Out

Well I'll start out by saying that I am one of those people who got caught by these expensive guru programs...sigh. I won't say I didn't learn anything, it did wake me up to possibilities that I didn't know about but it did set me back. My wife and I are very determined to break into real estate investing and are ready to put in the time. We are determined to get out of the rat race and create a better life for our kids. I've learned so much more since I joined biggerpockets a few days now and I'm hungry to learn all that I can, wish I had known about it before I would have something to start with instead of trying to climb out of a hole. We are currently doing research about the Florida area and building a team, any advice would be most graciously appreciated.

Hey @Peter DAbreau, welcome to BP and the Florida investing community!

Don't worry about caught up with a guru, like you said, it opened you up to possibilities and you can chalk it up to a learning experience.  Anyone who's had any success has had plenty of those.

Listen to the podcasts , get active on the forums & set up key word alerts to be notified when people are discussing topics you're interested in.

Check out the webinars, they are very informative, and there’s usually a new one every week.
