Does wholesaling work in every market?

Im wondering what are some thoughts about wholesaling in every market? From almost all the gurus they say, yes it works in every market. Many others that I talk to say that not all markets are the same and that wholesaling alone will not work. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this?

@Brett Snodgrass the difference with your company and what sets you apart is that you Close on your buys before reselling them, you do not just "assign the contract". You may sell the property "wholesale" but it is in your name.  This very credible methodology appears to be doable in every market.
