Occupant passed away and no surviving relatives

there is an abandoned house near me where the occupant passed away and she doesn't have any living relatives.  What is my best course of action to find out who is carrying this house and what may come of it in these circumstances. The house is the biggest eye sore on the block and I'd love to restore it to fit in with this lovely neighborhood.
