Partnering with other investors to market

On my last property I had an agreement to use another investor with a huge buyers list to market my wholesale.

Anyway I am wondering what and if others pay.
Other prospective deals I have brought him he has gotten many buyers interested right off the bat and quickly. He does not ask me to sign an agreement, and he gives himself 5 days to find a buyer after that I am "free" to move on my own. He makes money from collecting a buyers side birddog fee along with 1000 from me.

I feel like its money well spent since any potential deal he has buyers lined up before hand.

Obviously I want to build my buyers list and eventually not need this. but at this time he seems like a great resource. I just wanted to get others input.
