Developing a Niche Wholesaling market

I have been thinking about trying to develop a niche wholesale marketing strategy to angle towards Hispanic homeowners in Baltimore City. One of my close friends is very fluent in Spanish and has a few ties to residents in the pockets where these people live.

I was thinking about developing marketing signs in spanish along with mailers vanity numbers etc. I would have him be the go between.

My question is if we are doing a 40/60 split or 50/50 split but the contracts are going in my name if I just write him checks for his share, am I going to be taxed on the portion that I write him? My knowledge of taxes is very limited.

I am also wondering what others thought about this approach and if anyone else has done something similar.

I figure the amount of Hispanic homeowners is much lower, but I figure there are alot less people marketing to them.

Thoughts?
