Building Relationships before Negotiating
I just wanted to say hello and give you some tips on successful negotiating. Too many times we get in a hurry because we have dollar signs in our eyes. When we get in a hurry we forget to build a relationship.
Have you ever been to a get together or some type of event talking to someone? Silly question, everyone has. Since that answer is yes then I’m sure you remember talking to someone that made you feel right at home. I know I have.
Well there is a specific way to make it happen even in a forced atmosphere. It’s really pretty simple although harder to accomplish than you would think. You just simply engage the other person in conversation and ask more questions than them.
The reason it’s hard is because it goes against human nature. We always want to tell everyone about ourselves and all that we do and have accomplished. However, if you can master the art of drawing people into your conversation and making them talk you will gain their trust.
Have you ever heard that the first person that talks during negotiations loses? Well, it’s true and the person who talks the most usually loses too. They will almost always give you information they should not have or at least give you enough information to put together a picture of their situation sot that you will be able to negotiate better and win.
So , my advice today is to slow down and ask more questions. If you do you will have a better chance of winning.
To your success,
