How to get in touch with a home owner?

Hello,

I am a starting out in wholesaling. My question is how do I make the first initial contact with a home owner that does not live in the property? I tried sending post cards but with no luck. I found the owners first/last name and the last place(s) he might live in now but what is a good way of going about this?

Any information would be a appreciated.
