Real Estate Attorney Interview

Drew Harris
Posted

Hello BP,

I have a potential wholesale deal and it is my first.  I need to hire an attorney to help with contracts and such.  What are some of the questions you use to qualify if you are hiring the right person?

    Hey Drew,

I'm a Real Estate & Title Attorney in Maryland. A couple questions I would ask:

-Are you familiar with drafting real estate investment contracts? If so, dig deeper - how many? where? price points? types of real estate? etc.

-Have you ever worked with a wholesaler before? If so, did you draft all the contracts for the deal? Did you handle the Title-side of the transaction? If not, do you have a Title Company that can handle wholesale deals?

I think that's a good start. If you try to get details out of him and he can't really provide any facts/descriptions to back it up, you're talking to the wrong guy.

    Best of luck!
