Pre Foreclosures and Bankruptcy Direct Mail

Hi,

I am new to real estate investing, and have been reading blogs & books/listening to the BP podcast for months now. Some of the guests on the show have been wholesalers, and I like the idea of direct mail marketing using handwritten letters. I am looking to buy and rent out pre-foreclosures and bankrupt properties in my area. I realize that this mailing strategy is typically the specialty of a wholesaler, but feel this could be a learning opportunity for me. Does anyone have a recommendation for books or resources where I can learn more about what to write in direct mail (handwritten notes to homeowners)?
