Payroll Question for S Corp

Hi,

I have a question regarding payroll. My flipping business is under an S Corp, started in 2015. It’s only me on the payroll. Unfortunately, my old accountant retired. He set up automatic withdrawals about my checking every 15th of the month. No charges. This worked fine over the years.

New accountant wants to enroll me with payroll service company for $150/month. I said can we setup a one time annual payroll at a specified date to help me with how unpredictably the business can be. My new accountant wasn’t thrilled with this idea but still told me if we go this route but the payroll service would be the same price of $1800 or $150 x 12 months for a one time service! This really has thrown me off as I was never charged for payroll by previous accountant. Was previous accountant just being nice or is new accountant just looking for another revenue stream besides doing taxes.

Or I should find another accountant that will work with me with no charges for payroll?
