sheriff sale auction

I want to know if I should do title search on all the properties that I will bid at the Milwaukee sheriff sale auction, before I bid to avoid other liens beside the lien that foreclosed the property?  I'm asking because I heard some states/county make sure all other liens are cleared before the bid can happen at the court house?  I would rather pay for title search, but just too many properties at the same time.  Any information, would be helpful.  Appreciate much!
