Finalizing quit claim deed process

Jackalyn M.
Posted

A family member and I inherited a home 50/50. They signed over their half to me with a quit claim deed that I filed with the county clerk in 2018. The home did have a mortgage that I ended up paying off myself, never refinanced or put anything under my name. The home also has some type of HUD loan that isn't due until 2042. My questions are: What is the next step for me in order to get a title under my name? What type of attorney would I need to contact to help me with all of this? Can I get a HELOC with just a quit claim deed?
