Reselling with un-permitted work - Maryland

Aaron Lawrence
Posted

Hi folks,

My client bought a home that was remodeled, including electrical wiring, finishing the basement, new bathrooms, kitchen....you get the picture.

The contractor didn't get any permits and now the homeowner is hoping to sell - how would we do this? Does the state have to come and check everything or can we sell as-is?

If anyone has experience with this, please offer me some advice!

Many thanks

One of the questions on the state disclosure/disclaimer form is if any of the work is unpermitted. You simply answer the question honestly on the form.
