New investor in CO Springs
Hello all, I am a new investor in Colorado Springs and I’m looking to make cash flow from midterm rentals! I’m 24 years old, have a degree in computer science, and have been teaching myself through a multitude of literature and videos to prepare for my first MTR deal! I would like to connect with other investors and professionals for knowledge and wealth building. Thanks!

Welcome! First thing I recommend is finding all your local REI meetups and REIAs.
Hey @Matt Aertker! Congrats on getting started! I'm an investor in CO Springs and have 3 MTRs and a number of STRs as well! Happy to connect and help out in any way possible.
I also co-host a local meetup in town with some other STR/MTR investors. You can find our meetup by going to "Build Tour Team", then "Local Meetup" and typing in Colorado Springs.
@Matt Aertker welcome to the community! I used to work in CO Springs and think it's an awesome investment market. If you're interested in house hacking coupled with any other type of strategy @Ryan Thomson is an awesome resource.
Good luck!
Hey @Jordan Malara, thanks for reaching out! I have joined the group, I look forward to meeting up April 13th!
Hey @Kyle Spearin, thanks for reaching out! I joined that group and look forward to the next meeting!
Hey @Nicole Heasley, thanks for reaching out! I have joined the meetup group for the colorado springs reia, and I am looking around for more meetups on meetup.com. Thanks for your recommendation! If you have any other suggestions, anything is much appreciated!
Hey Matt! Welcome to COS!!!
Welcome to BiggerPockets and thanks for joining!
Here are some tips for networking and making the most of your account.
1) I'd fill out your profile fully before you do anything else! As that will at least help folks that you reach out to know that you are a real person, with a picture and professional bio. Particularly be sure to include your goals for real estate investing so that folks can help you.
2) Go to the Search bar, and look for some local members in your area! Reach out to a few of the folks, perhaps those with hundreds or thousands of posts in this forum, and connect. You can do that here.
3) Check out some of the local meetups that you can find in this forum! There are so many so be sure to filter by your location.
4) Review this comprehensive 64 page deck on the state of the 2023 housing market (in your resource page as a member of BiggerPockets!) for real estate investors put together by Dave Meyer and available for all BiggerPockets members.
5) Consider meeting with a few agents in your area even if you are just getting started! An investor friendly agent can do all sorts of helpful things, like setting you up with a search for properties or connecting you with folks who have recently done deals like the ones you want to do.
6) Consider analyzing a deal or two in your local market, just for practice, with a free use of our Rental Property Calculator (or other calculators).
Hope this helps! Please reach out with any questions you may have!

Hey Matt! Happy to have you here at BP. I highly recommend @Ryan Thomson, he’s a realtor and house hacker/investor in CO Springs. His speciality is new investors and I’ve had very good interactions with him. He has great resources too like spreadsheets and videos to help you out. Give him a DM 👍
BP has a few MTR podcasts that are AMAZING! Highly suggest you listen to them. MTR is a huge space with lots of opportunities to grow and find niches, etc
Hey @Noah Bacon, thanks for reaching out! I have filled out my profile, and am now looking into your other tips, thanks for the advice! I will be sure to reach out if I have questions, thank you!
Hey @Lawrence Potts, thanks for reaching out! I have just begun following one of Ryan Thomson's meetup groups: house hacker mafia real estate investor meetup, but I have yet to reach out to him personally. That is a great idea that I will be sure to employ, thank you!

You should absolutely combine house-hacking with the MTR strategy.
@Matt Aertker The House Hacker Mafia meet up is awesome! I'm 24 as well and house hacking with mid-term and short term rentals is a great way to go. Looking forward to meeting you at the meet up next week!
