Good morning,
I am a veteran currently stationed in south korea. I am very new to real estate investing. I am interested in purchasing duplex, triplex, fourplex. I believe I am not qualify for primary residence because I do not physically live in the states side. Is there any property loan that offers no or low down payment for veterans? Any suggestion I can put my foot in the door? Also I will appreciate any other suggetion, tips, advice, and recommendation that does not pertain to my question. please teach me! I want to learn!

@Edward Kim thanks for the post. I wish I would have known about the VA loan when I was in the Marines but I have used it since. However, while you are in the service you can absolutely get a mortgage from the VA. This is a "no downpayment" and "no PMI" loan. That means we come out of pocket a VERY low amount and have the lowest monthly payment possible. And yes, you CAN buy a property while stationed overseas. The best technique to consider ("best" being relative of course) is buying a 2-4 unit property with a VA loan. This will allow you to rent out the other units and offset some of the housing expenses you carry. Many servicemembers will buy a new home with every duty station. Your "occupancy" requirement when purchasing a home with a VA loan is that it is your declared, primary home for 12 months.
But that's the route I would certainly recommend researching. Semper Fidelis!
