Duplex House Hack & Tenant Protection Act of 2019, AKA AB 1482 Question

We are looking for clarification on the TPA/AB1482 exemption status for our recent owner-occupied duplex purchase that came with an existing (over 12 mo) now month-to-month tenant who we don't have a lease for. We gave them a 60-day notice (C.A.R. Form NTT, ver. 6/22) with Box 3A checked as we were going to owner-occupy one of the units. We want to know if they are entitled to relocation assistance (equal to 1 month's rent) or not (Box 2 A?). Everything we read is unclear. Thanks!
