Construction Cost Estimating and Builder Profit

Matthew Cornell
Posted

Hello All,

I am looking for up to date data sources on the following information:

1. What rates are builders using for their "Builder Profit"? Preferably would like it for different types of construction including custom homes, model homes, and multifamily (both single building and PUD). Currently the builder I am working with quotes a builder's profit of 22% for homes that we are selling. Seems high to me, but let me know.

2. Is there a data source/database that keeps track of construction material costs? I have been using inflation data and producer price index data, but would like data with more detail than just nationwide construction costs.
