Are Duplexes even right for Indy??

My wife and I have been doing our research. Listening to podcasts and read a couple of books. We are ending our lease soon and moving in to a room at a relatives house to save for a house. We wanted to house hack a duplex but I’m not sure that’s the right decision for our city (Indianapolis). Is there a way I can tell and if it’s not does house hacking work in Indy?
