Should I buy property in the US or in the UK?

I'm looking to get started in investing in property and am exploring potential markets in which to invest. I've lived in the US my entire life until last year, when I moved to London. I plan to move back to the US at some point, but will likely be spending the next few years in Europe. I want to try the house hacking strategy so that I can get some property management experience under my belt, but I'm not sure if buying in London is a better option that exploring long distance investing strategies by purchasing in the US. Does anyone have experience investing abroad (in the UK) or have any advice about purchasing in the US while living abroad? Thank you!
