Buying my first home (Visible Foundation settlement)
Hi everyone, I have a question in regards to a house that I am about to buy in Harvey, Louisiana. This is my first home and I don't have experience in buying homes. I am very excited about this house because I like the neighborhood and the house conditions.
I have a concern in regards to Visible foundation settlement, the inspector said in his report the following :
"Type: Reinforced concrete slab, presumably, as most structures are due to unstable soil conditions. This could not be positively ascertained without referring back to the original constructions plans.
Visible Foundation settlement: A computerized level survey was performed, and a maximum differential of 6 1/2 was found. The right corner is the highest point, and the left front corner is the lowest point.
Fill dirt level at perimeter: Satisfactory.
Soils subsidence: None
Fill recommended: No"
He also said that "this type of tilt is very common in the area where I am buying, and this pretty average"
Please advise whether I should be concerned or not about this visible foundation settlement?
