Investor Geared Brokerage?

Hello!

I am currently in college and am looking to complete my real estate licence through OREA (I live in Ontario) as I have some spare time at the moment.  The only issue with this idea is that I do not plan to use my licence until after I graduate. Is there anyway I can minimize costs associated with holding a real estate licence? or any brokerages geared to investors in Ontario which do not have a desk fee? Thanks for your time!

Jason.

A couple of points.

There are many Discount Brokerages that you could join for merely a couple $100s a year. YOU ALWAYS GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Just to be licensed in Ontario in cost me over $2,500 a yr for insurance and other professional fees (excluding desk fees).

You also have 18 months to complete the exams, then 12 months to join a brokerage, then 24 months to complete the last set of exams.

Note: As of April 1, 2016 The rules of becoming an agent are changing.
