Tenant wanting to add a roommate

Chris Villegas

Hello All,

I have found a few posts on this topic but still hoping for a bit of clarification in regard to this specific situation.

I currently have a tenant that is wanting his good friend who is ill to move in with him so that he can take care of him. He is indicating that they won't have any financial responsibility for the lease. I will screen and background them as I do all new tenants but looking for some advice as to whether it is advisable to add a non-financially responsible tenant to the lease. Is there a potential issue if the original tenant decides to move out and leave the other adult behind?

Thanks!
