Can I add cameras to my multi family property?

Can I put up cameras on my multi unit property?

I have a multi family property where all units are facing a comon area. Also I have a garage area that faces the comon area. The garage area is the landlords. It clearly states this in the lease. I plan to put up a solar camera on the front end of the garage.

It should be fully disclosed, there should be a specific purpose for it, and it shouldn't intrude on anyone's privacy.

Example:
"I have experienced several break-ins over the last two years. I am installing a security camera on the northwest corner of the garage to monitor the garage door and part of the common area where a criminal is most likely to approach the building. The camera will not record your personal residence. If you are interested in seeing what area is covered by the camera, I can send you a photo demonstrating the field of view."
