Tenant called 311 but heat not broken

One of our new apt tenants (late 20s, seemed mature, responsible) called 311 out of the blue without reporting a problem with the heat to us. Anyway, after doing a lot of testing with the heaters we figured out that to get the readings on the violation she had to have had the heaters off and windows open. All the heaters reached 70 degrees which is what the city requires (kinda high IMO but whatever). I was shocked bc she did not seem like the type to set us up. But I know she is very unhappy about not having a new oven. My husband fixes everything the right way (not cheap sloppy jobs) and was just there repairing her oven few days ago. The oven about 10 years old. Any thoughts?

Yes, this sort of thing happens all the time.  I can tell many similar stories.  We inherited one resident that was so famous for doing things like this the city said they were going to fine her if she made a false call again.

I would ask the resident that they call you before calling the city.  If this behavior happens again, non-renew the resident at the end of their lease.
