Lease Amendment Question
Hi everyone!
Recently, I had a new septic system installed on my rental property (I became a landlord 1 month ago, there's still much I don't know about managing my property).
I was told by the septic people that, for this new septic, neither detergent pods nor bleach should be used, because it can clog the system and harm the bacteria (it's a biological septic system). I told the tenant, but her response gave me the impression that she doesn't care, she'll keep using both. My question is, is this something that I can put on a lease? That she can't use detergent pods or bleach, and that if she does, she has to pay the repair fees for the damage to the septic system?
And if this is something that I can change on the lease, how would I go about it? Would this be a lease amendment, or an addendum? And is there a specific way that it has to be worded, or do I have to get a lawyer to draft this up? I don't want to get into legal problems.
Thanks!
