Is landlord responsible for providing shower filter?

Janice P.
Posted

My renter states that there is chlorine in the water that causes them to sneeze & cough. This is the first I'm hearing of this water issue, so I am unsure if it's an issue with the water quality or this particular renter's sensitivity to the water here. They inquired if I have a shower filter head.

I believe that the shower filter would be a personal fixture & the renter would be responsible for providing and installing it. I'm curious if others think I would be responsible for providing a shower filter in this case?

Did you add the chlorine? I didn't think so. You don't control the water and any presence of chlorine would be present in any home, not just yours. If they have a problem with chlorine, they should buy the necessary filter to deal with that.
