Renting on a monthly basis?

Hey all, I’m a small-time landlord with a few properties down in Henderson, NV. I won’t say that I’m making too much of a bank with my properties, but the business has been good enough where I’m looking to get closer to the Las Vegas downtown. Or at least, I started looking at LV since I’ve had a very unusual conversation with another landlord who is a friend of a friend.

Apparently, he does this thing where he rents a property just south of Huntridge Park to gamblers who arrive in Vegas with the sole purpose of gambling. When I asked him why wouldn’t they just stay at MGM like a normal person, he said there’s this group of people who prefer the privacy of a non-commercial property lease. He then told me that he decorates the entire house to be all about gambling.

He has installed slot machines, some of which work but don’t run on money. There’s also a dedicated TV in every room with a Poker channel on, etc. What really blew me away was the fact that every room had a small booklet with gambling tips and trivia. He paid someone to print stuff like this https://www.gamblingafrica.com/indepth/history-of-online-casino-gambling.asp on a fancy paper and made a booklet out of it. When I laughed out loud at this juvenile idea of a gambling den, he didn’t even blink.

A few days later, I learned from a mutual acquaintance that he’s pretty much dropping most of his properties and developing more ‘gambling dens’ like that one. Now, he could be pulling my leg, but I’m super interested in this idea. Has anyone heard about anything like this?
