Comp feature on Zillow

I'm a new investor in the Portland, OR area, trying to get some practice using the rental property calculator. I've seen that Zillow has its own automated comp feature. Has anyone used this feature with any success? Is it more or less reliable than going to an agent to get access to the mls?
