Direct Mail: best comprehensive tool to learn

I am finding myself really wanting to learn more about direct mail marketing.  Are there any comprehensive resources (books, specific blog posts/websites) you can reccomend to learn about direct mail campaigns.  Looking for everything from list parameters, to resources, to scripts for calls, to closing the deal.  Any and all information would be appreciated!
