Cease and Decist Direct Mail

I got a call from a Lieutenant of the very fascist Boxford Massachusetts PD today. I say this because I've dealt with them before when I used to do door to door sales. Anyway, he called me and told me my direct mail marketing was harassment and to stop or he would summons me for harassment. My question is, doesn't the 1st ammendment allow me to market freely? Should I continue to market in his town based on principal or should I take his advice and stop marketing there?

I still think it's fair game to ask SPECIFICALLY what you violating - there should be an ordnance number or SOMETHING that you can refer to.

If someone complains, you apologize for the inconvenience, remove them from the list, and you're done. That's fair and ethical.

Don't you wonder if this guy is legit or maybe he's just someone who received a card and he's jacking with you?
