Screening recent immigrants

Katie Bishop
Posted

We are in process of screening for our first SFH rental. We have a responsive applicant that recently immigrated from Mexico 6 months ago. The husband has a well paying job at a local engineering firm and great credit. His wife does not have a SSN yet for screening. How do you go about screening recent immigrants? I'm assuming the background checks will all be clear since they are recent in the states. Do you do anything to address their time in their previous country? Or just take the chance? We do like them, they are responsive and met all the screening requirements. Just no idea what is the proper way to handle these issues. Thanks for your knowledge and expertise!
