Novice RE Investor Seeking Accountant Recommendation

Greetings BP Family!

I’m a novice RE investor in South Florida seeking any and all guidance towards an accountant versed in real estate. I don’t know what questions to ask or how to evaluate. Through my research I’ve come across Ebere Okoye, CPA. multiple times. Should I keep my team local? Any and all guidance greatly appreciated...

@Lois Randley-Jones Whether you keep your team local is a personal preference, but it is not a must with today's technology and environment. In terms of questions to ask, the first one I would start with is what I ask every team member, do you invest in real estate personally. If they don't, I try to find a new teammate. A few other things to dig into with your interviews of accountants is to find out how often they want to meet with clients each year (you should NEVER only meet with your CPA in April to drop off your tax stuff). You also want one who asks about your goals and plans because a tax plan is not a one size fits all, and it should be customized based on your strategy, goals, and life. I hope this helps.
