Letter campaign on the Blanket Eviction bans

Seeing if anyone is interested in putting together a template that could be sent to state governors and the white House on the evictions bans. Come up with a better plan for evictions than the current blanket bans. Then everyone could use this and mail a copy to their local representative at both levels of government.

The current bans are terrible. In Florida alone you’re not allowed to do anything. No late fees, no eviction fees, no evictions, nada. Doesn’t matter if they lost income or not. It’s not right to hand over so much power to tenants who abuse the system. And now tenants are just planing on terminating leases once they have to start paying again. We have 50% paying when ever they feel like it. And being aggressive when reminded because they know there’s nothing anyone can do. They have already researched everything. I know a few fellow landlords that own buildings near ours also in the same situation.

This needs to change to only people in need.

    @Ayobami O. Well it worked in Florida. They said they had so much feedback from landlords he changed the law. Now we can evict if they can’t show proof the virus caused loss of income.

    Be members of landlord and rental associations in your state. Maybe even NAR.

    One of their primary missions is owner protections and they probably have campaigns going in this direction you can become part of as well.

    Same here in NYC.  I'm a property manager. We had gone through court process for evicting a tenant who stopped paying rent in Oct/2019. Per the court stipulation, the tenant (who was and still is working) was to pay March's rent when due and arrears by March 24, 2020 or else the Sheriff would serve the warrant on the 25th.  As of today, nothing has been paid. We are now in the 11th month of them not paying any rent. And most likely, when the warrant is served, they will move out and keep the rent owed as a free gift curtesy covid-19 circumstances that did not effect them. Meanwhile, the building improvements of new entry doors and new video intercom system that were scheduled, had to be canceled because tenants have be given the right to live rent free. And when the freeloaders finally are evicted the landlord will have to fix up the apartment and no matter what the amount spent, only be able to recoup a $90 increase for IAI. Which means that fixing will be minimal. Quality of living will decrease and in the end the tenants will also suffer because of these policies that are being put in place for them.  Absolutely ridiculous.

    This letter would be void since President Trump signed the executive privilege a couple of weeks ago?  It would be out of the governor's hand at that point?
