Population and employment trend research
What sites have people used to do a macro analysis and understand the area they're investing in? I would love to have a place to go to see reliable information about population and employment trends. Is anyone familiar with reputable sites for this information?

@Michael Douglas Christensen google "Salt Lake County CAFR". Under the statistical section this report, that I believe all or most counties have to produce, contains population trends, employment trends, unemployment rate, personal income...all over the last ten years. It also has the principal employers for that county. Very useful for analyzing a market in my opinion.
In Salt Lake County you can see population has steadily increased over the last 10 yrs, income has gone up, and unemployment is pretty low. The University of Utah is the largest employer with 20,000-27,000 employees.
