If you're an investor looking for potential opportunities to break into or expand your investing in L.A., recent earthquake retrofitting legislation may open doors for you!

February marks the beginning of a shake-up in the Los Angeles multifamily sector, as the City of Los Angeles begins distributing mandatory earthquake retrofitting notices to certain building owners. These notices come from the City’s recent approval of seismic retrofitting legislation that will affect an estimated 15,000 buildings, generating significant expenses for both owners and tenants over the implementation period.

This legislation may mean trouble for owners of buildings that are already operating on thin margins, or owners who are not interested in investing any extra time and money into their investments. But, these owners' troubles may be an opportunity for more active investors looking to acquire and add value to buildings in L.A.'s tight market!
