I'm just the messenger so shoot me if you want. Go to Forbes.com and enter "25 weakest housing markets". It gives them in order, projection of additional drop in value and when bottom will be in your area. Surprise!!! Bottom won't be reached in some cities until late in 2011!! And, it isn't the cities you think of, i.e. vegas and phoenix. Info gathered by fiserv and Moodys.
It also lists 25 strongest, and of course, my area is # 1,,,,,,,AGAIN!! I read an article in May 2007 in Money mag listing Mcallen, Tx(rio grande valley ) as # 1 for the next 12 months. I started buying there. In May 2008, Money mag listed us # 1 again. I then moved to Mcallen. Now, Forbes lists us # 1 for the next year. See a trend yet? Of the top 16 markets in the U.S. , SEVEN are in Texas.
You may also pick up the special issue of Fortune mag with the yellow cover. It lists the 100 largest areas and anticipated growth. Once again, my area is # 1. I've been buying and building and will continue to do so. Things are just dandy. Only question is will we be # 1 again next year for 4th year in a row???
