according to a recent Wells Fargo research poll.  The number does seem high to me.  Further questions in the poll indicate that a majority of these potential home owners think you need at least 20% down and have no idea what closing costs amount to.

If you are in the business of selling houses, it would seem that educating these potential buyers would be a good marketing item.
