Samsung isn't looking to double down on the Austin market, they are about to 10X their investment. According to the latest article in the Austin Business Journal, Samsung is looking to build up to 11 new factories in the Austin metro area in the coming decades (above the 2 currently). Right now it has about $20 billion invested including the new $17 billion factory going up near Taylor. They are considering an additional $192.1 billion in future investments to take advantage of Texas incentives. Wow. According to the article, "If Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. completes what it has proposed, it has the potential to be one of the paramount economic development deals in American history." The kicker, the first factory would not be completed until 2034. As an investor, you've got 12 years to get in before Samsung takes over central Texas!
