Does the flattening of yield curve mean that a recession is near?

The yield between short term government bonds are very close to the long term government bonds. Usually that is indicative of not so good long term prospects. Given that the fed is already at historically long term low rates, will QE continue? Its supposed to end this month, I believe.  Inflation is at historical highs too. There is a war going on. This is a very interesting time.
