10 unit apartment utility costs
I could use some comparison numbers for a 10 unit apartment my partners and I are considering buying. What are your utilities in Canton Ohio for apartment buildings? I was given two conflicting numbers for water and sewer. One said $4,000.00 per year the other said about $135.00 per month. Any input would be helpful.
I already asked for the actual bills from the seller but I would like to see some real examples of others if possible.
Thanks.

Derrick: Just to verify it's actually in the City proper - not Plain or Canton Townships, etc... some folks use the term generically and don't realize where incorporation/JEDD lines are, which directly determines which utility services you have options on and which you are required to have.
That said, I only have singles & duplexes in the city and their trash and sewer rates are fairly fixed. We pay about $22 per month per unit for trash and $8-15 per unit for sewer but my sewer is not split on the duplexes (don't ask me why it varies). If your units have split water and sewer at least their records should be very visible. So you should be able to call the city utilities office and ask what it is for that specific property to verify what was provided. While you're at it, they should also be able to tell you what their requirements are with trash. I believe I've seen 8 unit garden buildings still using the big 55 gal totes for each unit (what a mess!), but also seen dumpsters at some larger buildings. I'm not sure where a 10 unit would fall in that decision: if you can opt out for separate dumpster service or they require their dumpster. The City will find a way to get a cut from you one way or another, so I'm pretty sure they'll have an answer!
