Sharing our 2020 learning experience

Ready or not, 2 more days to close the year of 2020.

I'm sharing 2020 inspirations with a humble hope to spark energy in your heart as we are entering the year 2021

“Every time your mind shifts, your world shifts” Byron Katie

Just like everyone else, we started the year 2020 with a good plan and as a matter of fact, it was a great start by closing a large unit deal at the beginning of the year. Soon after it was followed by a lot of market uncertainty due to pandemics, and not to mention that we were forced to stay in the hotel for almost three months due to the flooding at our house.

It might be considered a setback for many, but we see it as a slight detour as we end the year on a high note.

Two weeks ago, we closed another deal, 44 units Apartment in Kansas with like-minded partners and we cannot wait to turn around this property together as a team. Soon, we will also close other deals in the pipeline together with another solid team.

Through this year we learn we overcome those challenges through:

#1 Keep plugging into various practical & dynamic Masterminds and learn from various people such as the one who always speaks about ‘Fall in love with the process, not only the results’, ‘Choose progress over perfections, ‘Leaders are readers’. Another one who constantly reminds us to “move the needles” and another mastermind member who always on the move with his ideas, connections, diversification, and challenge us to innovate.

That mastermind community instills many values in our investing approach. I dare anyone not to confuse value over price.

#2 Surround our self with like-minded friends who always becoming our sounding board in answering our random questions from acquisition to asset management and constantly challenge us to sharpen our investing mind

#3 Having soaking minds & determined accountability partners as part of our routine. For a reason that we do not want to let them down, certainly helps us go through many impediments.

#4 Focusing ONE thing to learn at a deeper level, for me it''s been the underwriting for this year.

As you can tell, this journey is not a one-man show especially in the multifamily space like what we do, we need great people around us.

I do hope you have yours, and I am always happy to connect with anyone who wants to take part in a multifamily journey and grow together in 2021. I am so grateful for every process in this 2020 and looking forward to another dynamic 2021. Cheers to you!
